The Tower

Once upon a time, when Grandpa was in Kuala Lumpur, he was walking through the Bukit Nanas Forest. As he came into a clearing at the top of a hill he saw a tower.

'Wow,' thought Grandpa. 'This is the tallest tower I've ever seen. It reaches way beyond the tree tops, right into the clouds.'

Being a tired-out storyteller, Grandpa knew some things about towers. He looked up and called at the top of his voice, 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair; so that I may climb the golden stair.'

A deep voice boomed back at Grandpa from the top of the tower. 'You've got the wrong story Grandpa. And besides, Asian girls don't have golden hair.

'However, this is indeed a magical tower; if you reach the top all the treasures of Kuala Lumpur will be yours.'

But without Rapunzel's hair to hold onto, there was no way an old knight like Grandpa could climb the tower. He tried many times but it was just too slippery.

He called back to the voice. 'Give me a clue. How do I reach the top of the tower?'

'It's not so hard Grandpa. Go around the other side, you'll see a door. Inside the door is another door. It is an elevator. It will take you to the top in seconds.'

Grandpa was very careful in case this was a trick. He walked slowly around the tower and there, sure enough, was a door. Cautiously he entered. Inside was another door. As Grandpa approached, it opened. He went inside a small room.

In no time he found the room was zooming to the top of the tower. Although it was very fast, it was also very smooth. It hardly seemed to be moving. Grandpa knew he was going up into the clouds because his ears popped, as if he was in an aeroplane.

A few seconds later the room came to a stop and the doors opened again. Grandpa walked out and there before him he saw it...

Yes, all the treasures of Kuala Lumpur were there for him to see. Fortunately, he had his pocket camera with him and he took many photos. Two of them are here on this page for you to enjoy.

Cool, hey?

THE END
