Lion dance

Chinese people have calendars that are based on changes in the moon. The moon tells them when it is a new year.

Sunday was New Year's Day for Chinese people. The new year is called the Year of the Dog.

On Saturday night I went with a friend to celebrate Chinese New Year's Eve in Chinatown. It is in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. Have you been there?

Many people were eating their dinner at tables on the footpath. There were lion dancers dancing around the tables. This lion looks like it is about to bite the man's head off. Do you think he looks scared?

You can see more photos of Chinese New Year's Eve on Grandpa's travel pictures page.

To my grandchildren

Here's a picture I took of myself but something went wrong. Help!

Can you see me in the picture?

I don't often see you. I hope you will come here often to see what I have to say to you. I will write to you here whenever I can. And I'll put some more pictures too. This page is on the internet just for you. Ask your Mum or Dad to read it for you if you can't read it yourself. And if you want to say something, you can leave a comment too. Tell me what you want me to put on this page.

Talk to you again soon.
