Happy birthday Harry

Two years have passed since Harry joined our family. Harry you must be much bigger than you were in this picture here. Do you know who the other person is in the picture? Maybe you don't remember me. You'd better ask your Mum. Just remember you have a Grandpa who cares about you, loves you and always thinks about you. And hopes to see you again sometime.

Tonle Sap punt

These kids live on a houseboat in the middle of the Tonle Sap River. To get to shore they have to take this little boat. They don't row it. The pole the girl is holding pushes against the bottom of the river. When you push a boat like this it is called a punt.

More visitors

One night my friend Vana was visiting. One of these insects appeared in the room. Now where did that come from, I wondered. Soon there was another one. By time Vana noticed them too, there were hundreds.

He said they come in any crack to find the light. There was a gap under my door so we blocked it with a mat. Vana said we need to catch them otherwise they would be in bed with me later.

When he was a kid they used to catch them and put them in a bowl of water. Then they would fry them and he would take them to school for lunch the next day. I didn't want to eat them but I didn't want them to share my bed. So we caught them and put them in a bowl of water as you can see in the photo.

Visitors

One night these two came to visit. They hopped right up to my door and were about to come in. I said, 'Who are you?' They didn't answer.

Now I don't let just anyone come into my room. I don't know if they were frogs or toads because they didn't say. So I said, 'No, you just be on your way.' Well, I took some photos first and then I said that.

They didn't come back again. Would you have let them in?
